LARGER THAN LIFE (2022) is another homework project given by my Drawing 2 professor in my junior year. This project is dissimilar from the introductory STRATA (2022) project in that we were prompted to choose a small object and magnify it to a point where it's unrecognizable. Thus, forcing us to focus on the fine details. I chose to magnify a seashell because I love the idea of pondering about the microscopic animals that make up such an expansive part of our world. Ironically, this project was not a challenge for me. Despite my natural tendencies to work in abstraction and expressive marks, I found myself at home focusing on the small etchings in the photographic reference.
